ARF, IQ, Levels, Talents & B-ARF.
An ARF, or Augmented Robotic Friend, is an NFT dog attached to an engineering mech suit. In S1, ARFs will be optional, but when assigned to your Alloy Space Manufactury, the ARF will earn IQ as you play the game.
Earning IQ will level up the Talents of your ARF, which will improve different in-game tasks.
The upgradeable metadata (and their starting/max values) shipped with a newly minted NFT ARF include the following:

ARF IQ
As IQ increases, the ARF will Level up. Each time the ARF Levels up, a point is randomly assigned to one of its Talents, which all start at 0 and max out at 10 (unless it is an Alpha, which all start at 1 when minted).
The Dominant and Supplement Talents both have increased chances of receiving the level-up point when the ARF gains a new Level. Once both are maxed out, another undisclosed feature is revealed.
ARF Talents
The Dominant and Supplement Talents are assigned based on different chance values. This Talent pair has an impact on the resulting rarity of the ARF. Later, these Talents will have an impact on the various fabrication mechanics in the game. Taking good care of your ARF will pay dividends later.

B-ARF
Working your ARF to Level him up requires an ARF Biofuel called B-ARF (we just call it BARF). This ARF BARF both fuels the Mech and feeds the Pilot to keep them operational.
The higher the ARF IQ, the more BARF he needs to keep going. Allowing your ARF to sit unfueled will not only take him out of commission but will also result in a slow decrease of his IQ, potentially resulting in the loss of Levels.
BARF is created by burning token, which all takes place in the Foundry. This opens up all sorts of opportunities for collaborations and partnerships with other projects.
While BARF will initially serve to keep your ARF working, it will also later serve other purposes for your augmented friend.
